Cheyenne is hired to bring mining equipment and machinery across private property to a mine on property they have leased. The previous teamsters to attempt it were killed. The property owner wants the mine and machinery for himself.

As Cheyenne starts to inspect three loads of freight a big man, Tuk, attacks him. The two brawl until Tuk final stops it. After introductions Tuk learns that Cheyenne is the freighter who is taking his three loads of mining gear and supplies to his leased mine. Over dinner Tuk explains he and his group leased property from Manuel Loza and struck gold. They want to use the proceeds to build an orphanage for the boys left with no fathers due to the Civil War. Three previous teamsters were killed making the trip and are buried along side the Three Graves Road across Loza's property. Tuk finds Carl Tower to be the third driver. He was just released from a southern army hospital. Loza's men try asking Cheyenne to turn back then try to ambush the teamsters while they sleep. Prepared for the attack Cheyenne is able to kill one of the ambushers. Tower is to meet a woman and her son in Loza's town called Security.
