Did You Know?

The episode takes place between the end of the US Civil War [1865] and the end Maximillian's rule in Mexico [1867]. Cheyenne and the Mexicans are using repeating rifles, look like Winchesters, in the final battle. The rifles are definitely not Henrys, which first appeared in 1860. They are not 1866 Winchesters, which even if they were, would hardly be in the hands of fighters deep in Mexico less than a year after they were introduced. Rifles are at least 1873's which didn't exist in 1867. See more »

Not the princess bride for sure
21 February 2017 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Typical, young(ish) spoiled princess sent to marry dashing military hero finds out he is very, very plump General Dubeauchaie (Sebastian Cabot). So she runs away trying to pass herself off as a local Spanish girl, Juanita. Cheyenne finds her and brings her to a rebel camp where anyone with a brain could tell in two minutes she has never done a hour's work in her life. And she knows nothing of local customs but is hot enough to sizzle the heart of one of the younger rebels, Rosario; but she has the hots for Cheyenne. When Cheyenne and the men from the rebel camp are captured, he is offered a deal by Empress Carlotta: Bring her back and no marriage will be forced upon the princess. However, the rebel women have their own deal: bring back their men and the princess will be returned unharmed.

Anyway, the general doesn't want her back figuring she's a soiled sister after spending nights in the mountains with Cheyenne. Only her duenna wants her back so she helps Cheyenne escape; and he rallies other male rebels to take up arms and attack the French and free the captured men. The princess is returned to Carlotta and she gives the princess freedom to marry whomever; but we know with her background, it won't be Cheyenne. It isn't. And Cheyenne sighs and watches her sail away, presumably back to Europe. Let's just say not a memorable performance by anyone in this episode.
