Storyline

After Sam and Diane's admission of mutual attraction and their passionate embrace and kiss, where do they take it next? Diane wants their first time to be special for both, and although Sam knows that this relationship with Diane may be something more than just a fling, he is still just more interested in satisfying his animalistic needs. After some debate, they end up at Diane's apartment. Once there, they get into another of their heated arguments based on the differences in their personalities, initiated by Sam's ridiculing of Diane's menagerie of stuffed animals. Diane eventually kicks Sam out, who storms back to the bar for support. Carla however says to Sam that she knows how he can get Diane back: exert his manly power over her. Sam heeds the advice. Diane has her own reaction to Sam's manly power, but Diane's reaction isn't all it appears on the surface. Sam's reaction to Diane's ultimate reaction is unequivocal in its intent. Written by Huggo

Trivia

Every scene in Season 1 took place inside the bar. The first scene to take place outside the bar was, when Sam went to Diane's apartment in this episode. See more »

Goofs

Rhea Perlman became pregnant during Season One, and her character Carla Tortelli also became pregnant. Perlman gave birth before shooting for Season Two began; Carla Tortelli was still pregnant for the first two episodes, and the fake baby bump is obviously smaller than Perlman's genuine Season One baby bump. Norm Peterson: One time I had to get tough with Vera, you know lay down the law. Next night I came home, she was waiting for me wearing nothing but a Saran Wrap bikini. I haven't been able to look at a sandwich since.

Power Play (#2.1)
6 April 2014 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

So we start where the last season ended. Sam and Diane decide to date and they figure out where to go for their first encounter. After they announce it to the rest of the bar but they are not too enthusiastic. And the first date really doesn't go too well. So Sam breaks into her apartment and acts all macho but she tells him she called police. After they talk it out.

Well, Diane seems even more annoying in this episode than ever. And lots of the things in the episode were annoying, except of how it ended, that scene was hilarious. Greatly performed and very funny hope there will be more of those.
