Walter Pidgeon is the Checkmate client in this story. He's a high priced criminal attorney who recently used Checkmate's services to get his client Stafford Repp off. But, and here's where the script gets real muddled, he might have committed more than an ethical violation to do it.
He actually contracts with Repp to put out a contract on himself and then regrets it. Any of us might have second thoughts on that one so now Checkmate has to protect Pidgeon from himself.
Mary LaRoche is Pidgeon's wife and Kent Smith his law partner and Elaine Edwards is Repp's gun moll. Edwards sure has Doug McClure's attention.
I think the whole thing is ridiculous and if you think my description is ridiculous wait till you see how this one plays out.
