Skit also includes Drunken Sound Effects Man, with Lyle Waggoner in the title role. (He is, however, not seen during the comic sound effects, as Harvey Korman and Carol perform a "live" soap opera".)
An early version of Carol's "Nora Desmond" character can be seen in the 1920 movie stars segment. Sid Caesar portrays Raymond, an obvious spoof of Rudolph Valentino. The voice-over interviewers (Harvey Korman) surprisingly accurately names his movie Blood & Sand, without a spoof for its title.
In 1968, 53 years before fashionable time, Carol is wearing together the year 2021 "Pantone colors" of bright lemon yellow (aka "illuminating") and gray. This, in the drunken sound effects man skit.
During the Q&A segment, a woman who worked on the gown that Carol is wearing asks her a question about it. Carol says it was made "at Bergman's" and weighs over 20 lbs. It was a hideous brown and matronly sequined maxi dress designed by Bob Mackie, with bouffant sleeves, and in a harlequin pattern. Carol said that she could wear the dresses from the show any time she wanted to, but that they were kept at CBS, under lock and key.
This show was originally scheduled for 1 April 1968.
