The Real Brains

Many of these shows may only be one-joke stories, but they are done so well you don't mind the repetition. In this one, it takes some adults (mainly "Toody" and "Muldoon") awhile to figure out An 11-year-old boy scout, "Marvin" (Paul O'Keefe), is a genius at solving problems.....not them.

A highlight of this episode - and many others - are the looks on the face of "Captain Block." Paul Reed, as the captain, was really good at facial expressions. Toody and Muldoon produced most of those looks of resignation. You know, the "why me?" looks. "Why am I stuck with these two idiots in my precinct?"

"Block" does a number of them in this particular episode. Another funny bit was the "transfer" of Marvin by the two pairs of adults who finally wake up realize how valuable the kid is.

We also get the first of several "That's all, Rose" lines from cousin "Al." Those who remember this program will know what I mean. Carl Ballantine and Martha Greenhouse were hilarious in those roles.

Anyway, it's another funny episode with a goofy-but-fun ending.
