Storyline

Toody and Muldoon's 9 blissful years as partners stun a researcher who finds the average prowl car pair last only 16 months before screaming to be switched. If the NYPD management engineer can discover their secret and replicate it, that'll save the blue brass many headaches. But Gunther and Francis' precinct mates don't want to know what actually goes on in Car 54, or even worse: can New York's finest clone empty-headed chatterbox Toody and somber, cerebral Muldoon ?

The Perfect Pair

For me, this episode brought back some funny memories, especially one scene which has stuck with me for over 50 years. That's when Toody and Muldoon are going at it in the patrol car with all the "ooh, oohs" and ear-pulling. Classic stuff.

The premise of the story is for the police big-wigs to figure out how one pair of officers are able to stay together for nine years when the average is only 16 months. What keeps these guys together? In trying to find out the answers, they almost destroy this long friendship several times.....but all is well at the end, of course.

Overall, a very good episode and certainly memorable. I enjoyed seeing Dan Frazer again. He played the big-wig "Bradley." In the next decade, Frazer became fairly well known playing Telly Savales' boss on "Kojak."
