Storyline

While Jackson plays with his newest invention, and omni-counter, old friend George Maynard arrives at headquarters. George has concerns about diamonds being smuggled over the Mexican border. Jackson flies down to New Mexico to investigate and accidentally picks up readings of diamonds in the desert. Jackson lands to investigate, and deducts that someone is using herds of wild horses to run diamonds back and forward between Mexico and the United States. While out investigating, someone tries to shoot Jackson but escapes. Later the shooter meets two other men and discusses the situation. Jackson follows a set of horse prints till they stop at tire tracks. There they find a discarded horseshoe with a diamond in it. Heading to the local town they see the sheriff. It is arranged to drive the wild herd through the town, and the trained horse will join them and betray its owner, assumed to be the leader of the smuggling ring. The plan works and the sheriff arrests the men Written by glen_chapman <chapman_glen@yahoo.com>

Captain Midnight, played Richard Webb, who with his Secret Squadron crew, protects America from various nasty types, both foreign and domestic.

Webb is asked by John Hamilton to look into some diamond smugglers. Uncle Sam is not amused that they are not getting their cut and wants the trade stopped. They believe the stones are being brought in to the States from Mexico.

Webb and his sidekick, Sid Melton, borrow a diamond detector from Squadron egghead, Olan Soule. They then jump in their super plane, The Silver Dart, and off to New Mexico they go.

Hooking up with local Secret Squadron member, Gary Gray, they soon discover how the stones are being smuggled. The crooks, Ed Hinton, Zon Murray and John Cason put the stones in some hollow horseshoes. They then run a herd of horses up from Mexico.

The crooks are cornered with the help of the local lawman, I. Stanford Jolley. A brisk shootout, complete with western type six-shooters is needed before the boys are arrested.

Fun episode from the early days of Sci-fi television. (b/w)
