Spiffy's new career
JordanThomasHall31 May 2019
With Spiffy gone, the men find their orderly routine is also gone. Commander Wivenhoe is angered to find his quart of quinces gone and summons the sheriff who calls him crazy. The counselors, feeling untrusted, quit their duties. Wivenhoe makes a mess preparing lunch for the campers. He apologizes when he finds that he misplaced the quinces and admits he has new appreciation for their jobs. They all realize Spiffy is what held them together. Spiffy sends a letter saying he is renting a nice room in a boarding house and in training at his uncle Phineas' insurance company. The picture he paints of a busy, modern office filled with eager young people trying to get ahead is the exact opposite of the truth. It is a dusty, antiquated office with very elderly employees. Kindly Henry Saunders befriends Spiffy whose job is stapling two separate sheets of paper. Saunders has been there over 50 years, working his way up from janitor to mail boy. But, Saunder's lifelong dream job and life at the insurance company may make Spiffy reconsider his decision.

Moral: Appreciate what you have

An episode with heart and a message, mixed with the series' silly humor.
