Callan might be in love after Hunter orders him to warn off the widow of a former foreign secretary.

Lady Lewis (Zena Walker) was married Sir Colin Lewis, the youngest Foreign Secretary to serve for the British government for some decades.

Although not penniless, she has two sons at public school. Lady Lewis has had a lucrative offer from a persuasive and celebrated documentary maker Rene Joinville (Tony Beckley) to do an interview about her husband. Joinville has interviewed Castro, Ho Chi Minh and other left wing revolutionaries.

Hunter is worried that Joinville might get her to reveal a little bit more about her husband's efforts against the Russians.

Callan uses a softly softly approach with Lady Lewis and she does agree not to do the interview. He also ends up charming Lady Lewis mainly through an interest in model soldiers.

Hunter thinkling Callan might not succeed as also sent Cross to keep an eye on Lady Lewis.

One thing Hunter had not taken account off. Joinville is a Russian agent and when Lady Lewis does not change her mind. He kills her and make it look like the British security services did it.

Cross is in the line of fire, but Callan believes that he did not kill her. Callan had Lonely tailing Cross and he also wondered just how Joinville managed to get access to the like of Castro.

It was good to see Callan's more softer side although it is obvious that any romantic interest would be short lived.

The twist about Joinville was well done as well as his chats with the maid in his room who turns out to be his handler. A similar device was used in the Kevin Costner movie No Way Out.
