Did You Know?

(At 00:10) As Danny is questioning the lingerie model she tells him she "made $10,000 just for getting out of bed" which is a sly reference to the quote from Linda Evangelista printed in an October 1990 issue of Vogue magazine, "We don't wake up for less than $10,000 a day." which, even though Linda did say this she was actually commenting on how crazy the fashion business had become towards super models like herself. When Mac traps the mosquito under the jar, he describes it as being "fat and well fed", yet the close-up view of the insect shows that it is not, in fact, engorged and, therefore, not fed. See more »

Detective Stella Bonasera: Hawkes! Hope you like puzzles.
Dr. Sheldon Hawkes: Our climber's brain?
Detective Stella Bonasera: Yep. Uh, patrol's searching for more pieces.
Detective Mac Taylor: And the body?
Detective Stella Bonasera: Landed on the sixth-floor terrace.
Detective Mac Taylor: [glancing up at the building] Fell from high enough to reach terminal velocity. The impact of the fall knocked his brain right out of his skull.
Dr. Sheldon Hawkes: This is a portion of the occipital lobe, the inferior temporal sulcus. I'd say at least 50% of his brain is still out there.
Detective Don Flack: [approaching] Well, I've recovered a shoe that contains about 10%, and ESU is ...

Excellent Start To The 2nd Season
18 October 2006 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Group leader "Mac" (Gary Sinise) works with agent Sheldon Hawkes (Hill Harper), who has been promoted to field work, having been in the lab last year. They have the main story: a professional building climber who is scaling the Empire State Building when he mysteriously falls to his death. The key "witness" to the murder is a mosquito!

"Stella" (Melina Kanakaredes) and "Danny" (Carmine Giovinazzo) are trying to solve what happened to a missing $8 million jewel that was part of a jeweled bra being worn by a jewelry executive. Also to be found is the person who killed that guy (he was wearing it to safeguard it, not for kinky reasons).

Finally, in a small sideline story, but one that will have repercussions regarding this show's cast, "Det. Aiden Burn" (Vanessa Ferlito) is trying to help a friend pin a case on a two-time rapist. The show ends with her tampering with the case and, I presume, will conclude with her being fired on the next episode. This was no surprise as I knew that Ferlito wanted off the show, so this was the way to do it, I guess. Too bad, because I will miss seeing that beautiful face.

All in all, an excellent start to the second season. The improved 5.1 sound on the DVD was very noticeable the show seems a bit brighter this season.
