Trivia

Horatio mentions that an explosive is "hypergolic". A hypergolic mixture consists of two substances that ignite spontaneously when mixed, without any need for an external ignition source. Hypergolic liquids are often used in rocket engines, where they allow easily stopping and restarting the engines. The Space Shuttle uses hypergolic liquid propellant in the orbital maneuvering and Reaction Control systems. Accidental hypergolic mixtures can be extremely dangerous, especially since ignition can happen immediately or after an unpredictable delay of an hour or more. See more »
