"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" Cats in the Cradle... (TV Episode 2002) - Plot Summary Poster

Plot Summary

  • Grissom, Brown and Willows investigate the death of an old woman who lived in a house full of cats. She had been dead for several days and was evidently stabbed. Two children living across the street say they saw the old woman's argue with her next door neighbor. A wall safe in her bedroom was also broken into. Stokes and Sidle meanwhile investigate when a car is blown up and the owner has no idea why anyone would try to kill her. The evidence, including fingerprints on a piece of the pipe bomb, all points to the woman's husband who works in the family demolition business.

  • Grim contractor Barclay Tobin's daughter Marcie survived her car's bomb-explosion. Nick and Warwick follow evidence that her spineless husband Jonathan Claddon, falsely suspected of adultery, had access to such explosives as foreman, but they snoop beyond. Grissom and Catherine handle an old, lonely woman being stabbed, perhaps an account of her obsession with 20 cats. Despite a blown-open safe, her destitute son and heir Tyler Elliott has no motive as she leaves nothing, except the house to a cat asylum. The neighbors' lies, also about the cats, prove crucial.
