CORONADO 9 – Singapore Girl - 1961

Coronado 9 was a one season Private Eye series that ran during, 1960-61. Rod Cameron plays a former Navy Intelligence officer who decides to set up shop as a private investigator. He works out of his beach front house in San Diego. This is episode 37 of the series.

In this one, Rod Cameron is hired to fly to Singapore and pick up a rare copy of the Koran for a manuscript collector. He hits town but discovers that the shop has been firebombed and the book gone.

The local British Army Intelligence types grab him up for a talk. It seems that the rare Koran is part of a power-play between the west and the Soviet Bloc. The west wishes to return the book to the Middle East for the good will it would generate. The Reds of course have the same idea.

Cameron decides to look into the matter and see what he can turn up. Needless to say everywhere he goes trouble follows. Soon there is a string of bodies littering various dives and apartments. The British Intelligence types are all for booting Cameron off the island. Cameron however discovers who is behind the mess and hands the man over to the British.

Not one of the better episodes.
