CORONADO 9 – Gone Goose - 1961

Coronado 9 was a one season Private Eye series that ran during, 1960-61. Rod Cameron plays a former Navy Intelligence officer who decides to set up shop as a private investigator. He works out of his beach front house in San Diego. This is episode 33 of the series.

In this one we have Rod Cameron being called out to a small mountain town. He has info that several men involved in the murder of a friend of Cameron's are there. The first man is, Jim Davis, who is the one who killed Cameron's friend. Davis was charged but got off in court. The other man is Robert Petersen who as it so happens is blackmailing Davis. He was a witness to the murder but never stepped up. He saw a cash cow with blackmailing Davis.

Cameron hits town hoping to beat a confession out of Davis if he has to. Cameron is bushwhacked with a pistol to the back of his head. When he comes to, he is in a room with the body of Peterson. And of course there are rounds missing from his gun.

The local tin-horn lawman, Slim Pickens, puts the grab on Cameron. He is going to charge him with murder. Cameron of course tells everyone that it is all a frame job by Davis. Cameron belts Pickens and escapes into the woods.

He manages to hunt down Davis and a less than friendly chat between the two results in a bout of flying fists. Davis is finally subdued and comes clean to lawman Pickens about the murder and trying to fit Cameron with a frame job.
