Coronado 9 was a one season Private Eye series that ran during, 1960-61. Rod Cameron plays a former Navy Intelligence officer who decides to set up shop as a private investigator. He works out of his beach front house in San Diego. This is episode 35 of the series.
Cameron is hired by the wife, Nan Leslie, of a pilot friend, John Bryant. Bryant is a week overdue from a trip down to Mexico. Leslie would like Cameron to go with her down south to look into the matter. Cameron agrees and they hop a plane south. They then rent a jeep and head for the hill country where Bryant had been headed.
They stop in all the small hamlets etc to show pictures of Bryant, and ask if anyone has seen him. The owner of a small cantina, Nacho Galindo, tells them that he has seen Bryant. He is staying at a small cabin out in the hills with several other people. The cantina owner delivers food every few days to the cabin.
Cameron has Leslie stay put while he drives out and has a quiet look around the area of the cabin. He finds the plane hidden away in some trees. He does not like the look of the place and heads back to the cantina.
Cameron and Leslie ask Galindo to slip Bryant a note next time he makes a supply trip to the cabin. This happens to be the next day. The note asks Bryant to come to the cantina to meet Leslie and Cameron. This he does, and we find out that Bryant has been hired to fly several people into the US on the sly. There is a big payoff for doing this. They have been delayed because one of the men is very sick.
Needless to say, the men are not on the playful side when confronted by Cameron. Guns are pulled and lead flies with Cameron catching a round in the shoulder. This is still better than the lead overdose Lane Bradford and Clark Howat receive in return.
Enjoyable low rent fare.
