Unique episode for Whole Series
johnnhuff-700-38634312 December 2013
Excellent script by Larry Alexander, delivers personal tragedy via special express-- heightened by Executive Producer Cy Chermak's decision to do the episode sans music. In the entire series there is no other episode like this. But the heaviness bothered everybody from fans, to network, to execs in the Thalberg Building at M.G.M.-- and this was never tried again. A worthy experiment, though. Robert Viharo bench presses the whole episode. Alexander worked for the series again with at least two more episodes, both noted for their "interior" psychology character revelations. Similar to the episode "Matchmakers" with an officer in trouble (retirement) and for whom Jon and Ponch lend their support with a girlfriend. In this script, "Andy", the Robert Viharo character, dies in their arms.
