When Jon and his temporary partner chase the suspect to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, they make an elementary mistake that leads to the suspect's escape.

There are only two ways for vehicles as large as motorcycles to be ridden into and out of the Coliseum: the lower-level tunnel on the west side (through which Jon and his partner follow the suspect) and the arches on the east side (the peristyle end). Instead of both following the suspect into the Coliseum, one officer should have driven around the structure to the peristyle end. By following the suspect, they have allowed him to escape because their motorcycles cannot climb stairs like a motocross bike. See more »

Roy Yarnell Is Back In Town
1 August 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

In The Return Of The Supercycle,Ponch ends up in hospital when he crashes while pursuing a jewelry thief on a motorbike. Jon and Ponch think it could be Roy Yarnell, who's back in town with his own stunt show. Also a new female officer,Kathy Mulligan is interested in Jon, but his colleagues think she's there to spy on CHP.Anne Lockhart, who plays Kathy Mulligan; and George O'Hanon, Jr.,who plays Ray Yarnell, make guest appearances.

A red motorcycle robs a jewelery store and is immediately chased by Ponch, Jon, and Baricza. Swerving to avoid a trailer, Ponch gets knocked unconscious and ends up in the hospital.

Then Kathy Mulligan,a visiting CHP officer seems interested on Jon.But his mind's on the supercycle. After the briefing, he heads out to see Roy Yarnell and uncovers nothing. The red bandit hits again after the commercial. Jon, Baricza, and Mulligan chase him. He escapes over a jump ramp.

Back on the streets, Getraer and Jon chase the red bandit into the L.A. Colosseum. He drives up the steps to the top and escapes. Upset, Joe lets Jon use the supercycle. While Jon visits Roy, we learn that it's really the mechanic who's been pulling off the robberies. Bonnie realizes that they're really plotting to steal a diamond to frame Roy. The CHP arrives just in time to scare off the red bandit. Jon chases him down and catches him thanks to the supercycle. After Kathy says her goodbyes, Jon visits Ponch.

Supercycle is one of the best episodes of CHiPs in the second season. In it,Ponch uses the CHP supercycle and tries to catch skilled motorbiker Roy,who causes misdemeanors by playing his stunt work on the road. While in this episode,it is interesting since now it is Jon who uses the CHP supercycle with Ponch recuperating on the hospital and Roy helps the CHP officers in solving a mystery about a motorbiker who is pulling off robberies.

One great episode indeed!!!
