Continuity

When Poncherello approaches the female kidnapper on the cliff, his position changes from the right side of the screen to the left side- the scenery behind him should be the ocean and instead it is a cliff- and then back to the right side.

Just before the light green Cadillac rear-ends the yellow Lincoln, the passenger side doors open. In the following shot, they are closed and then they open so as to be knocked off by the passing car.

Factual errors

Officers in Los Angeles would notify the Border Patrol regarding a kidnapped child, however, they would also alert the San Diego office of the CHP or local Sheriff for law enforcement activity. They would not be taken off patrol and flown down via helicopter.

The female kidnapper wearing high heels outruns Poncherello when he approaches the car and she runs on foot. She is only a few feet in front of him when they pass behind Bruce Nelson, yet she is much farther ahead after she scales a wall, still wearing the high heels. She finally loses the shoes going down the embankment.

The CHP does not investigate thefts of college property. Either campus police or local law enforcement would do so. Likewise, they do not investigate missing children, which is another function of local law enforcement.

If the pathogen is as dangerous as Grossman says it is during the CHP briefing, then it would be one of the deadliest threats ever known. It is unlikely that the federal government would allow anyone other than the Centers for Disease Control or the US military to handle such a pathogen.

Even if a university were allowed to study the pathogen, it would be stored in a much more secure manner than is pictured. The preppy frat brothers steal it from a regular cabinet in a chemistry classroom. It should be locked behind multiple layers of security, and it should be in a real research laboratory, not in a place that normal students have access to every day.

Plot holes

Ponch and Bobby are chasing the preppy frat brothers' van for long enough to see its license plate, so they should already know who the van belongs to and, thus, who the thieves are.

Revealing mistakes

When the men get out of the light green Cadillac that had all 4 door knocked off, there is no damage to the front fender where the door would have hit, and the hinges have empty bolt holes, indicating the doors were unbolted from that particular car. Silver paint on the door jambs indicates the car had been repainted another color.

In the first crash, the light blue car is a ramp vehicle used to launch vehicles that rear-end it. The ramp edge is briefly visible after the rear-ending car begins to go over the top. When viewed from the rear, the color of the light blue car is brown in the last scene of the crash after the college kids leave. The ramp car had been many colors during the series, with brown being a popular one, so it is likely only the front was painted light blue for this scene.

When Poncherello is rescuing the woman from the car fire, the fire is on both sides of him. When both of them are away from the car the fire is shown to be right where he was standing, but he was not burned.
