Trivia

Contrary to the many law enforcement inaccuracies shown in the series, in the freeway angels stop of the van, several accurate things are portrayed. Bobby Nelson follows the passenger back to the van, an officer safety tactic. Poncherello tells the girls they cannot issue a ticket for a violation they did not see. He then tells Nelson stopping someone for a traffic ticket does not give officers probable cause for a search, and consent of the owner would be the only lawful means to conduct a search. See more »

Goofs

In the break room, the robot generates enough heat to boil a soft drink and break the bottle across a table, yet no one standing closer than the bottle notices the heat. See more »

Maximum Efficiency Robotization Vector Series 1
14 August 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

In Day Of The Robot,Ponch and Bobby have fun with a robot assigned to the CHP station. It is known as MERV 1 or Maximum Efficiency Robotization Vector Series 1.

It was supposed to improve efficiency of work in their station but it later on becomes a threat to their lives. Also, the female motorcyclists form a crime-watch unit.

While there is nothing really happening in this episode considering that Ponch and Bobby have to deal with a robot working at the CHP station instead of a criminal or a traffic violator,it somewhat sad that this episode deviates from what CHiPs was being all about. It tries a refreshing story by having a robot in it but to no avail. It only brought more signs that this show is not going to be on air next season.
