One of the characters in this story is Red Dekker, a star player with LA's unidentified professional hockey team. At the time this episode was produced, the city had a pro hockey team, the Los Angeles Blades. Founded in 1961, the Blades were a member of the Western Hockey League (WHL), a minor league. The real life roster of the Blades included Willie O'Ree, who had earlier been the first Black player in the National Hockey League (NHL). The WHL had teams in most major West Coast cities and there was talk that it might declare itself a major league in competition with the NHL. Such talk was one of the reasons why the NHL expanded in 1967, one of the new teams being the Los Angeles Kings. Realizing that it couldn't compete with the greater resources of the Kings and the NHL, the Blades disbanded after the 1966-67 season. The WHL dissolved in 1974 and this episode is one of the few traces left of "hockey's forgotten league."
Eddie Bracken, Jack Carter, Hans Conried, Gloria Grahame and Martha Hyer all receive 'Special Guest Stars In Alphabetical Order' credits.
Buddy Lewis played almost the same role as a construction Worker in Episode 1 of Burke's Law, where he, again, found a dead blonde.
Closing credits: The characters and events depicted in this photoplay are fictional. Any similarity to actual persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.
