Trivia

When Xander says, "It's a loop... like the Mummy Hand!" he is referring to Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Life Serial (2001) in which Buffy is caught in a time loop and must battle a severed, magical Mummy's hand. See more »

Goofs

Spike is shown being tortured by drowning - that is, his head is held down in water and his breath bubbles up to the top - but according to Joss Whedon's canon, vampires do not breathe, or at least, they do so only for effect. This "vampire fact" was shown in Season 1, Episode 12, when Angel cannot perform CPR on Buffy, but Xander can. Meanwhile, in Season 4, Spike fakes heavy breathing as though he has been running, but it's just a trick so that he can get into Giles's house. (That said, it is possible that there are some instances where vampires require breath - specifically, when they are in need of healing. This occurs sporadically throughout the series - when Spike is being physically tortured, he seems to need air to heal himself.) See more »

Quotes

[first lines]
Xander: [repairing the house after a demon invasion] It's a loop... like the Mummy Hand! I'm doomed to replace these windows for all eternity. You know, maybe we should just board these things up until things are less Hellmouthy.

The potentials have the WORST English accents ever...
10 June 2010 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

Their accents are literally unbearably bad. It's like they're doing imitations of what a really bad English accent might sound like if you held your nose and started speaking through a rolled up cardboard tube. As an English person, and human being, I'm offended. Anthony Stewart Head (Giles) must have been livid. Are there no English people in America who could have been cast in the role instead. The appallingness of their accents is only made worse by the fact that Giles is standing next to them, speaking properly.

Elocution lessons please!

Otherwise it's a good episode...
