Buffy dates gentle Scott Hope and takes mandatory school counseling with Mr. Platt, who says she must conquer her 'demon', obsession with a lost love. Looking for the werewolf, Buffy bumps into Angel, now a half-naked beast, and locks him up cuffed to chains in the mausoleum but tells nobody, not even Giles who says even after centuries of torture in the hell-dimension he may still be a redeemable monster, then finds Platt, murdered during the day. Scotty's school friends Pete Clarner and Debbie Foley share a horrible secret. The gangs suspects them because of links to the victims, meanwhile Angel breaks his chain... Written by KGF Vissers

Unhealthy relationships

Beauty and the beast shows Buffy officially dating Scott and hanging out with his friends. While patrolling runs into Angel back from a hell dimension in a feral state. Pete is an abuser who manifests into another person when he hits her leaving her eye bruised or pushes her down and gets jealous over her talking to other guys. Debie fits the profile of an enabler who makes excuses for his actions like its her fault for making him angry and can be the perfect woman. Its a good morality tale that people like him don't change nor can ever be truly happy.

Angel is back but I'm disappointed that he just appears with no ritual or expedition into the dimension to rescue him. I find his state of mind to be reasonable as he literally spent hundreds of years suffering for the crimes of another and didn't t know peace until he landed back on earth. My only problem is for his first return he only serves as a deluxe mechanism to wrap up the pair instead of finding a way to truly deal with Pete or have anyone in the gang take a life. The episode is fantastic for what it tried to be but the ending needed work since it's messy and a lazy attempt by the writers to gloss over real world struggles for an easy cope out.
