Bronco as a favor to General Hunter arrives at the Martin Military School for Boys as an instructor in frontier warfare. Capt. Martin hoped for a military officer but decides to try Bronco rather than go against General Hunter's recommendation. One of the boys, Jamie Reynolds, takes a keen interest in Bronco and the two become close friends. Bronco's easy going ways ruffles Capt. Martin's feathers especially when Bronco takes Jamie fishing on visiting day forcing his mother to wait hours for him as she was not expected. His dad, an army officer has died. Shortly afterwards, a Sioux woman named Monacita arrives saying she is Jamie's real mother and that his father was her husband but he took the boy away when he was very young. A cadet overhears them talking and spreads the word about Jamie who is teased. Bronco tries to help but is fired but returns when Jamie runs away. Events lead him to think Jamie is in danger from his future stepfather. Written by Anonymous
