- Personal and financial problems plague Henry as he tries to prove that the Anglo-Greek girl who fell to her death in Jakarta was not a suicide or accident.
- Henry deals with new money troubles, an increasingly tangled affair, and accusations of misconduct in his latest case. This time he's helping an angry dad who believes his daughter was raped and murdered at a party overseas, but things aren't as they seem.—Anonymous
- The daughter of a loving Anglo-Greek family falls to her death from the balcony of a Jakarta hotel. Despite the difficult logistics and a hostile coroner, Henry agrees to take the case at the urging of solicitor Amena Laing. Costas Nicolaou, the girl's father, is convinced that his daughter was raped and then thrown to her death. Henry must convince a coroner's jury that it was not an accident or suicide. In the meantime Henry has to wade through his usual personal and financial problems which are complicated by his sleazy stockbroker.—duke1029@aol.com
- Henry Farmer (Alan Davies) reluctantly undertakes the prosecution of twelve-year-old Sophie Nicolaou (Eva Alexander) for the murder of a nine-year old. Farmer's ex-wife (Cherie Lunghi) leaves their son with Farmer and (for now) live-in girlfriend Polly Graham (Zara Turner). While intrigues continue in chambers, Farmer comes to doubt the accused girl's guilt and indeed develops another theory for the case; defense counsel's incompetence nevertheless permits the original charge to prevail. Adding to pressure on Farmer, his son proves to be a real handful, suffering from acute asthma, getting in trouble for shoplifting, and eventually suffering a life-threatening fall while sleepwalking.
