The final episode
"Kellie" turned out to be the final episode, with legendary John Carradine returning for a fifth time as Jason's grandfather, General Joshua McCord, now partnered with his grandson as survey engineers. Richard Webb, just months before his memorable STAR TREK episode "Court Martial," plays Trask, the head of a quartet of bank robbers, one of whom is gunned down as the others escape, leaving behind a teenage daughter named Kellie (Morgan Brittany), who behaves like a wild animal. Since the gang left without the money they killed for, Jason looks after it while his sweetheart Ann Williams (Lola Albright, last of three) takes care of the now orphaned Kellie, whom Trask fears may identify them as the culprits. Morgan Brittany was a busy child actress (still using her birth name Suzanne Cupito), with a clean shaven Victor French as the sheriff, and Billy Beck playing one of Trask's gang. John Carradine and Lola Albright had previously appeared together as husband and wife in a 1955 first season episode of GUNSMOKE, "Reed Survives." Producer Andrew J. Fenady considered Carradine his good luck charm, using him in two episodes of THE REBEL, five episodes of BRANDED, one episode of HONDO, and the 1973 feature "Terror in the Wax Museum."
