Storyline

The whole town runs to a silver mine to get rich and leaves the town practically abandoned. A gang of robbers find it a convenient time to rob the bank, and the leader orders Deputy Marshal Clay Holden to allow it to happen. Deputy Holden is still wet behind the ears and agrees to go along with them in order to keep the gang from burning down the town. When he goes to get Jason McCord's gun, however, Jason forces him to tell him everything. Jason then asks Deputy Holdon to trust him. Written by Michelle

Quotes

Deputy Sheriff Clay Holden: You know what you said about how a brave man makes a choice and a coward steps aside?
Jason McCord: I remember.
Deputy Sheriff Clay Holden: Well, I still don't understand why you let men talk about you the way they do, but I do know that you made a choice. You're not the kind of a man that steps aside.
Jason McCord: Well... Good-bye. And good luck, Mr. Holdon.

nice episode
17 October 2006 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Truly inspiring episode, Chuck Connors at his best in the series which reunites the two rifleman stars. Look for the line Jason Mc cord (Connors) gives the young deputy (Crawford) in the beginning about courage, the outlaws are played a little campish but effective,a small town is terrorized by a group of outlaws which plan to rob the town , while collecting the town's arsenal Mc cord separates and plans to bring them in with some help from the overwhelmed deputy, look for ex major league baseball player Ron Perranowski as one of the gang. This episode is lightweight but enjoyable .This series is a nice change from most westerns of the era.
