"It's too late baby now, it's too late though we really did try to make it." Carole King

This episode is an honorable mention, it's true this episode doesn't have the same impact anymore as it's one of those had to of been there at the time. But at the time it really was impactful making us all realize that it might not be in the cards for Cory and Topanga.

It's true the part of the first part of the episode have some of the old couple stereotypes, I know these things would be a nightmare for both April and Andy on "Parks and Rec" as the last things they would do and feel, in fact it's a sin to them. Seeing both Cory and Topanga resort to these things you know it's just a bad sign.

Cory is going through the motions trying to figure things out, there is one sad moment when he says, "I don't know what's wrong with me." As Shawn says it's not him, and he's right it's the relationship itself that's in the wrong. We don't really know the reasons why it's going wrong but whatever it is it's not working anymore. Cory wants and needs a change to refresh whatever is long dormant and of course he gets that with Shawn's help.

It's just funny how Cory at first feels a little uncertain as he's posing in the Shawn role for the party; one moment that is funny is when he does the Fonzie trademark, but of course things start going the right way for Cory then Shawn does it. Cory, we see begins to feel a lot more comfortable and becomes a natural at it, it really feels right like a part of Cory has awakened again.

But of course, the party ends once Cory discovers Topanga at the same part his him, posing in a French girl role. At that moment both come out and lay all their cards down on the table. This was the pivotal moment and I really like how it was handled, it felt realistic as I think all of us when we were dating and in relationships have done this.

Both talk things out and we see both were aware or sensed they were becoming an old couple as they were doing things, they both really didn't want or enjoy doing. Both wonder what went wrong or what they did wrong, but as we see they did nothing wrong, it's just simply that the romance between both of them is just gone. Both still care about each other that bond will never die but they just don't love each other to that deep degree anymore.

Cory then says things are going bad and they're not breaking up, but this is fear and denial talking because as he says those weakly, deep down he knows it's the right thing to do. After those words Topanga says, "maybe it's when the couple wait to long to break up is when things get worse." And she's right because it's true, people that don't even love each other or not anymore but are still together the most unhappy.

Yes, breaking up is hard to do and it hurts but to move on, be happy, and love again it has to be done; holding onto something that no longer exists hurts the worst because it's not love.

The final minutes are sad but necessary, as we see both do what they must do as they walk away from each other. But then we see both run back to each other but realize the other isn't there, at that moment they and we know it's truly over.

Rating: 4 stars.

Warning: Spoilers
Ok, the first half of the episode kind of reminds me why I'm not that into relationship and commitment. I'm not judging anyone wanting and living one but though just it's not for me. First of all, not all the girls are on chickflix and cheesy magazines and trying to put their boyfriend or girlfriend into it, well I'm definitely not one of them. The Cory/Topanga relationship is such a dull, soppy, mushy, cheesy one, too smooth for my taste. Don't get me wrong, they're perfect for each other that's factual but that's not the kind of couple that makes me vibrate. And then, the last scene came and didn't make me change my mind on it but geez it was intense to watch. Again, they're not my favorite couple (well aside Cory's parents it's the only one in the show but well ^^) but when they got into serious business they got my full attention, particularly Cory I mean we can really see he had grown up a lot and got a lot of maturity, his kind of the rock of the relationship. Seeing him sit alone outside after they broke up was so depressing. The fun on the episode was Cory pretending to be Shawn and the latter pushing him into it. It's not surprise that Shawn is that popular that even girls to other schools have heard of him and still he was really fun how it was showed to us. But as always what a good friend he is, I notice that he always wants to put Cory on the center of the attention whenever he has the occasion to and actually enjoy it, not all friends are aimed to put themselves out of sight that much to make their best buddy shines before the crowd. That's really an habit I notice about him that he does really often and each time I fall for him even more : he's such a sweetheart and a selfless giver when it comes to Cory.
