Cory can be a good student after all
22 January 2014 | by (victoria b.c canada) – See all my reviews

Cory is rather fed up of Minkus excelling so much and is even more frustrated when he gets a C on a test. When Cory learns that winning this year's Geography Bee leads to being a bat boy in the World Series, Cory is adamant about being the leader. Mr. Feeny outright refuses, giving the honor to the dependable Minkus. Cory manages to get Minkus to change his image to act more like one of the guys, even getting Minkus to drop out of the Geography Bee. Cory implores Feeny to give him a chance and manages to persuade Feeny's mind. Cory discovers the learning is fun and gains confidence along the way. Meanwhile, Eric is engaged in a battle over Areosmith tickets with his parents, because Eric feels his parents will embarrass him & his date, Heather.Ah, yes. I was never that interested in school. In fact, one of Cory's quotes struck a chord with me. "If I'm interested in it, I'll learn it" sums how I feel perfectly. This is a very good episode with some poignantly funny moments, as well as some heavy ones. Cory's storyline was excellent, but so was the side story with Eric. Eric is extremely disrespectful in this episode, though I could understand his point. Hanging out with your parents with a date, isn't exactly a fun situation. I also understood how his parents felt. When you are a parent, you don't have much time for yourselves. In the end, I wound up sympathizing with both parties. It was well done. It was nice to see a change of pace for Cory as well. It gives a good message at the end. Just because you don't win, doesn't mean you can't learn things in the process. I won't spoil everything, but the ending is really heartwarming.

Favorite Quote Cory: Minkus, have you selected Minkus?
