Quotes

Alan Matthews: Hey, Cory. Cory. Phillies are playing on the west coast and Schilling's going into the seventh inning with a no-hitter against the Dodgers. You too tired to come down and watch the rest of the game with me?
Cory Matthews: What, are you new here?
Alan Matthews: [to Eric] The Phillies got a no-hitter going. Want to come down and watch the game with me and Cory?
Eric Matthews: [half asleep] I can't. I'm... I'm naked and I'm taking a math test.

A very thought provoking episode
5 January 2014 | by (victoria b.c canada) – See all my reviews

Cory's dad is swamped with work, and doesn't get to spend much time with Cory. Cory's dad feels so guilty that he wakes Cory up in the middle of the night because Curt Schilling, a pitcher for the Phillies is throwing a no-hitter. Cory falls asleep during an important test the very next day, and fails the test. Cory's dad tries to talk sense into Mr. Feeny, but Mr. Feeny continues to maintain his decision. This one hit very close to home, and I felt it was very realistic. It's tough to be a parent when you are so busy with work. You wanna make sure you can provide for your family, but at the same time, make sure you spend time with the ones you love. I felt this episode did a great job of looking into this issue. In my personal opinion, I thought it was awesome that Cory's dad woke him up. Sure, it might not be setting a good school example, but quality time with your father is just as important when you're a kid. I thought it was really cool of him. There is even an awesome heart to heart moment at the end between Mr. Feeny & Cory. My only complaint is that the Lenny character seemed very out of place with his bumbling persona. If you're a fan of this show, you'll more than likely love this episode. It's pretty fantastic stuff.

Favorite quote: (Cory referring to Mr. Feeny talking about his childhood) : It's hard to picture you as a boy. Did your parents call you Mr. Feeny?
