Shawn Hunter: Wow. Feeny must really hate your guts.
Cory Matthews: Could be worse. At least he didn't give me Minkus.
Shawn Hunter: Hey, Minkus doesn't like me, he doesn't trust me, and he doesn't respect me. So he's doing the whole assignment by himself. In my book, Stuart Minkus is a god.

Introducing Topanga!
17 January 2014 | by (victoria b.c canada) – See all my reviews

Mr. Feeny doesn't care for Shawn & Cory working together, pairing Shawn up with Minkus in lieu of Cory, while Cory is stuck working with the new girl Topanga. Cory overhears a couple of girls calling him a Brillo head, making Cory seek out Shawn's help. After failing to read the instructions properly, Cory's hair becomes a giant mess, becoming the laughing stock of the school. As a result, Cory is forced to spend time with Topanga and her friends. Cory learns that being unique is actually a good thing, and grows to like Topanga & her friends. Brilliant! This episode is absolutely brilliant for a couple of reasons. It is the peerless Danielle Fishel's debut as Topanga. She was only set to be a guest star, but she was such a hit, they brought her back as a regular, and you know what? I'm so thankful they did that. Her quirky character added a new dimension to the show at this juncture with her quirky character. You could totally tell from the audience's reaction that they adored Topanga. I think all of us have had a certain body feature, whether it's hair or something else that makes us wanna skip school, in fear of what people may think. I felt this episode delivered a great message about how you shouldn't try to impress people by being someone your not. Being authentic and yourself is the best way to be. Despite peer pressure, never let that stop you from being YOU. Ben Savage is pretty funny as Cory in this one. His facial expression when he gets kissed by Topanga at the end is absolutely priceless. BMW fans will love this one.
