A touch of larceny in Lorne Greene
bkoganbing25 April 2016
Although this was Dan Blocker's final appearance on Bonanza this story concerned Lorne Greene who gives a dual performance as Ben Cartwright and his lookalike, confidence man Meredith. The con man has a bold plan to give Ben Cartwright a little ptomaine bellyache at the Governor's dinner honoring him and then get back to the Ponderosa and sell it all off. I think it was shocking they got as little as they did, but they were running a prairie fire sale.

The bad Lorne Greene is aided and abetted by Greg Mullavey pretending he's a doctor who accompanied Ben Cartwright back from Carson City. Mullavey's got a few tricks of his own up his sleeve part of it involves Kate Jackson who is as naive as they come. You have to see the line Mullavey feeds her and how Jackson buys it.

It was fun to see Lorne Greene with a touch of larceny in him. If Bonanza ran even longer I'm sure we would have seen more of Meredith.
