Lawyer Vengeance, 7 March 2007
6/10
Author: spider63 from United States

This was an odd story about a lawyer who is representing Candy for the murder of Jeb Wheelock, the son of the town patriarch. A.Z. Wheelock is played by Arch Johnson, who comes across as a very reasonable guy, considering that he thinks Candy killed his son.

Of course, Candy has been framed! When Little Joe and Hoss show up to help him out, they get into more trouble. Little Joe gets framed too, for another murder. Suddenly people are dropping like flies.

It is up to Hoss to figure out the mystery, and he does when his investigation uncovers the biggest clue. The lawyer's daughter was going out with Jeb Wheelock, and Hoss finds out she is pregnant. So who killed Jeb? Barry Sullivan plays the deceptive lawyer very well.

Overall, this is an interesting story with a good cast. However, because various Cartwrights had gotten "framed" in so many episodes, this story really lacks zing. Even Hoss and Little Joe look like they are a bit bored in this episode. It is hard to explain, but sometimes they all look very excited to be on the set, and in some episodes they look like they are just waiting to clock out. This is one of those episodes. Even though Arch John and Barry Sullivan do a good job, the Cartwrights are a bit off. In the epilogue, when Arch Johnson drops in on them, they all look like they didn't want to be there.
