Bob Speaks with the Reverend
2 April 2012 | by (southwest US) – See all my reviews

Emily buys an old bible at a church auction, which causes an argument when she gets home. Bob brings it to the reverend's office to return it, but after meeting with the minister, feels too guilty to return it. Thinking the matter is settled, he brings the bible home, but the minister shows up at his office and wants Bob to take him on as a patient, which leads to complications. The reverend is played by John McMartin; he had played a preacher on Golden Girls and Empty Nest, and has made several appearances on Murder She Wrote. With his quiet, mature manner, he frequently played a senator or a doctor. Good episode... some funny gags as both Jerry & Carol suddenly act awkward when the find out Dan is a reverend.
