Good piece of work

John Cassavettes shows here his gift as a director. The tale of a student athlete who encounters some existential problems among his fellow student friends. Sensitive study as we can expect from Cassavettes. Glenn Corbet plays the young man's approach to enter the elite class, the high society. In that purpose, he dates a wealthy and beautiful young gal whose the father is of course a jet society member. The two Young people are from very different social worlds. Our lead doesn't hesitate to cheat during an examination to succeed in his dream of achieving excellence. Ed Begley plays here the head school supervisor who seems to be attentive to the student. He tries to teach him the good philosophy of life.

I like, in this episode, the accurate drawing of the human nature through the eyes of this young man in whom many can recognize. Will he succeed in his rise? Not so sure...But I prefer to let you see for yourself.
