Seeking A Place In the World

Having just done a review of Barbara Stanwyck's Trooper Hook, I sort of felt compelled to write a review of this episode of The Big Valley.

Peter Breck as Nick Barkley comes across juvenile delinquent Michael Burns and attempts to befriend the kid. It's not easy because Michael Burns as Danny Wiggins is not really Danny Wiggins. He was born to Mrs. Wiggins while she was an Indian captive and he calls himself Danny Running Dog.

Trooper Hook which is one of Stanwyck's better later films focuses on a mother who has given birth to an Indian child returning to white society. This episode of The Big Valley tells a lot of the same story from the child's point of view.

Michael Burns is unforgettable in the role, make sure if the TV Land channel or Hallmark starts running The Big Valley you catch this episode by all means.
