Endora's latest olive branch to Darrin - a wedding present to Samantha, albeit a gift five years after the fact - is rebuffed by Darrin as he knows that Endora used witchcraft to produce it. Endora in turn believes Darrin's attitude shows how small a person he is, and as such vows revenge. Samantha and Darrin soon find out what Endora's revenge is: she literally makes him a small person. The change is slow and gradual at first, but quickly speeds up until Darrin is only a few inches tall. Endora refuses to change him back until he apologizes, and Darrin refuses to apologize, believing he in the right. Beyond this standoff, Darrin and Samantha face two additional problems. First, Darrin has to contend with a dog that sees him as potential dinner. And second, nosy Gladys Kravitz is certain she saw a shrunken Darrin, and goes to extreme measures to prove to Abner that what she states she saw is indeed true. Written by Huggo

Did You Know?

Endora refers once to Darrin by his actual name, as she did in "The Joker is a Card". See more »

During the final scene, whilst Darrin is still small, his height changes depending on the camera angle. As the camera is looking at him from in front, he is barely taller than the mayonnaise jar lying next to him, yet when the camera goes to the side, he is clearly taller, as the mayonnaise jar is only beside his legs. "Abner! ...Mr. Stephens is only four feet tall!"
25 August 2009 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

"SAMANTHA!" "Ohhh... mother shouldn't have done that." Yeah, the plot is a bit familiar... but the funny lines are too many to quote in just one review.

Ironically broadcast the same week as "Land Of The Giants" with itty bitty shrinking Darrin in a world of giant coffee cups, furniture and mayo jars. (This had to be an expensive episode to produce.) A great dane from the Kravitzes (of course, Gladys purposely got a dog to help her snoop the Stephens house... "This dog will eat anything that's not nailed down.") chases him into hiding with the garbage. Fortunately, the friendly drunk (the reliable Dick Wilson: "I found a leprechaun in a bottle!") saves him before he winds up as part of the trash pickup.

This is basically an comedy version of "The Incredible Shrinking Man", with excellent props and Dick York's hilarious comic timing. Like many of York's best performances, one can watch this with the sound off and still laugh. Heck, just make a still of him sitting in the jar, saying "Sam, don't try to psychoanalyze him. Just give him his pony!"
