This episode again touches an important topic such as date rape. Actually in the beginning it talked about other violent acts and I was surprised how many raised their hand to the question who has been held at a gunpoint.

The episode shows pretty well how the perception of date rape has changed in over the past 20 years. Many of today's misogynists would actually like this episode. For once it concentrates mainly on men being victims of women lying about being raped. This actually is not a bad idea to show as even though it doesn't happen as often as some would like to make us believe, it still happens.

My problem is that they didn't make it too convincing that she was indeed lying. Besides the fact that Steve is a character we all like they didn't bring enough arguments in his favor. It actually gave me a bad aftertaste that Kelly right away saw the girl as a liar just because she is friends with Steve. And the bad guy that she was willing to stamp off as a rapist in the same situation, John Sears, really doesn't seem to be any worse than Steve. He didn't even have sex with Kelly. The only thing that makes him worse is that he is not her friend.

So this is why this topic kind of failed for me in this episode. It is also interesting that a big feminist Andrea is actually saying things that somebody who denies every claim of rape would say these days. Also we don't see it as "I didn't say yes, but I also didn't say no" in the same way as back in the days. Simply because of situations where one can't say no and doesn't always apply to regretting it the next day. Although these situations are not the same as what happened with Steve. At least he still apologized to the girl at the end for misleading her.

Brandon's story is the one I didn't care much about when it started but that got an interesting twist in this episode. Let's see how it will go on now.
