May be my favorite in the series

Here we have what might be my favorite episode in the series.

Mssrs. Pendleton and Lucas, rich men seeking to get richer by finding out what J.D. Clampett does to become so wealthy, return (we met them in the previous episode about the Bank Raising) and they are working on what they overheard Jed talking about last week, specifically about crawdad, crick water, getting the crawdad from Pearl, etc.

The Clampetts just received a huge box of supplies from Cousin Pearl, including buckets of crawdads, the little crayfish that they eat. Pendleton and Lucas are convinced that the crawdad they heard about is a code name for a fabulous new military weapon that works on land, on the water, or under the water, thinking it's like the DUCKS that were actually used in the war, on land and in the water.

They find out about Clampett's shipment by talking to the driver, Harry Ledge, who thinks he's a private eye. Calling himself Harry Sledge (like Mike Hammer, he explains) he goes back to the mansion to investigate. He becomes convinced the whole family is composed of scientific geniuses. He thinks Granny is working on some rocket fuel, instead of her white lightning. He sees Elly's wildcat, and thinks its a house cat, giant sized. He sees a white possum in a cage that Elly got from the zoo, and believes it's a gigantic white mouse. He reports back to the men that Jethro is, in Granny's words, "A regular Einstein," because "he's developed a whole new math where 2 and 2 come out 5." The men are all delighted to know that these geniuses are on "our side." I just saw this episode this morning and laughed and laughed, even though I remember it better than most.

To me, this would have to be included in any DVD showing "The 10 best episodes of The Beverly Hillbillies." or it is mislabeled.
