Bernie is upset the kids have no outside interests. He pushes them on the subject. He himself agrees to front a run for charity, and starts running. This lasts about two days before he can;t get out of bed. Vanessa wants to run in the race. Bernie, now all knotted up, is being made fun of on a popular sports talk TV show. The day of the race, Bernie is laid up but Vanessa is on hand. In effect, she becomes the new focus of the race, being Bernie's niece. This late entry in the series has Bernie realizing with mixed emotion that Vanessa is growing up. Fast. There is a very funny yet perfectly serious bit between uncle and niece near the end, so pay attention.
