A Cry in the Night

Probably inspired by the accidental death of Natalie Woods.

A rock drummer gives a party in his swanky new boat. It results in the death of Rupert Galliers and his wife seriously injured.

Bergerac suspects foul play, Crozier thinks it was an accident.

Written by Robert Holmes, we see a dogged Bergerac here. He uncovers clues relating to drug dealing to financial dodgy dealings.

There is an important clue dropped early in the episode relating to the eventual culprit.

Enjoyable Episode

One of the few where it was filmed with the sun shining most of the time. Lots of pretty girls. Actual people on beach scenes too.

Former rock drummer Boy Buckley (Don Hawkins) is giving a party on his new yacht, when Rupert Galliers (Peter Birrel) and his wife Emerald (Elaine Ashley) fall overboard. Galliers is pronounced dead, but Emerald is taken to a hospital in a coma. Bergerac must discover whether it was an accident or murder.

Written by Robert Holmes, this was a pretty standard Bergerac episode. All the performances were adequate, but the identity of the murderer was pretty easy to guess. Overall, I expected more from the great Robert Holmes. 2.5/5
