- Dar meets lord Galen, who claims to be the son of his father's closest ally. Galen shows Dar an old agreement between their fathers that states that Dar and Galen's feisty sister are to marry and ally their houses against Balcifer.
- Dar's ferret is taken by a falcon belonging to a feisty redhead warrior princess named Talia. She doesn't believe him that he's the Beastmaster and refuses to return her prey to him. After a brief scuffle, Dar and his friends are apprehended by Talia's guards and taken to her brother, lord Galen. They quickly resolve this misunderstanding and Galen reveals that he's actually the son of Elsar, the late closest ally of Dar's father Eldar. Tao is let into Elsar's library where he finds a written agreement between Eldar and Elsar that their children, Dar and Talia, are to be married in order for their two houses to unite against the evil god Balcifer and defeat him. While Dar and Talia go on a small quest near a nearby volcano and discuss this long forgotten agreement they're less than enthusiastic about along the way, Arina discovers something strange about Galen, when he's accidentally speared by one of his guards, yet doesn't even bleed.—Anonymous
