Storyline

Adama is dying after Boomer's attack, but Dr. Cottle is on another ship, the Rising Star. The arrival of a Cylon Basestar however forces the fleet to make an emergency jump. Suddenly Galactica is alone. The fleet had old coordinates and jumped elsewhere. The only way to find out where they went is to jump back to the Basestar. Gaeta thinks of a dangerous plan. Back on Caprica Starbuck doesn't seem to like Boomer. Helo has a lot of trouble preventing her from killing the bearer of his child. Boomer is forced to flee. On Kobol things are getting precarious. The Cylons are getting close and the away team has to run, forgetting a medical kit with serisone the seriously injured Socinus needs. Written by Arnoud Tiele (imdb@tiele.nl)

Straight back to the action!
31 October 2010 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

Season Two of Battlestar Galactica starts the moment Season one ended, with Commander Adama seriously injured in the bridge after Boomer shot him, with Helo, Starbuck and Sharon back on Caprica and with the Chief, Cally, Baltar and a few others trapped on Kobol after their crash. We are immediately thrown into the action as the crew rush to save the commander a Cylon base star appears and the fleet is forced to jump. Due to a delay in sending the updated coordinates Galactica finds itself separated from the fleet with no doctor aboard just when he is needed most. On Caprica Starbuck can't trust Sharon the Cylon and on Kobol things go badly wrong when the group forget to check they have both medical kits and find they need them after one of the group is wounded. With no other way to find the fleet they are forced to jump back to Kobol and recalculate the coordinates using a networked computer; something Adama would never allow.

This was a great opening to the season as there was no time between this season and the last and we were immediately into the action. The action continued both with Galactica and on the surface of Kobol, both story lines featured fights with the Cylons; surprisingly the one involving three people on the surface was more exciting than the one involving a large scale battle in space. As I've come to expect the acting was really good, especially from Michael Hogan who was great as Col. Tigh, a man forced to take a command he never sought. I also find Nicki Clyne's character growing on me, early on I wasn't so keen on Cally but she is rapidly becoming one of my favourites.
