- Barbara Gordon: [as Barbara decends into the Batcave] Oh, my god.
- Alfred Pennyworth: Master Bruce, I -
- [notices Barbara]
- Alfred Pennyworth: Ms. Gordon, I uh, see you've discovered our little secret. Yes, I admit it, I am Batman.
- Bruce Wayne: It's all right, Alfred.
- Alfred Pennyworth: Very good, sir.
- Barbara Gordon: Why would you trust me with this?
- Bruce Wayne: For Dick's sake. Besides, I'm not the only one with a secret, am I... Batgirl?
- Barbara Gordon: How did you - ?
- Bruce Wayne: I make it my business to know.
- Robin: [after Nightwing knocks out a mugger Robin was after] I could'a handled him.
- Nightwing: Could'a, would'a, didn't.
- Robin: You sound just like Batman.
- Nightwing: I'm nothing like him.
- Robin: Yeah, right. The Mask, the attitude, the long underwear.
- Nightwing: Drop it!
- Robin: I'd love to know what happened between you two.
- Nightwing: Things change.
- Robin: No kidding. You guys used to be the greatest. Batman and Robin, the Dynamic Duo.
- Nightwing: Maybe you should ask him.
- Robin: I did. And you'll never guess what he said. "Things change."
- The Joker: Nice entrance. Either you've never heard of a door or you just like pulling glass out of your shorts.
- Batman: Where's the Joker?
- Connor: I- I don't know.
- [Batman slams Connor against the wall]
- Connor's Son: Daddy!
- Batman: Remember now?
- [Robin watches as Connor's wife and child huddle in the corner in fear]
- Robin (Dick Grayson): Batman, not like this. Not in front of his family.
- Batman: The sooner he talks, the sooner we leave.
- Robin (Dick Grayson): [Sees Connor's son starting to cry] I'm out of here now!
- [Batman knocks away Joker's pet hyenas]
- The Joker: Hey! Do I hit your kids?... Oh, actually I do. Ha-ha!
- Barbara Gordon: [At Dick's graduation] You must be so proud of Dick.
- Alfred Pennyworth: He's like a second son, you know.
- Barbara Gordon: He was so upset he couldn't even talk about it. It wasn't the first time I've seen him like that. What is it between you two? What's going on?
- Bruce Wayne: You really care for him, don't you?
- [Barbara nods]
- Bruce Wayne: Follow me.
- Bruce Wayne: Alfred, contact Robin.
- Alfred Pennyworth: I've already tried, sir. I'm afraid he's not answering
- Bruce Wayne: Keep trying. The Joker will have his goons well-placed. I'm gonna need back-up.
- Barbara Gordon: You've already got it.
- Robin (Dick Grayson): Batgirl. I still can't believe it. How could you keep something like this from me?
- Batgirl: You weren't exactly honest with me, either.
- Robin (Dick Grayson): But you told him.
- Batgirl: He knew.
- Batman: It wasn't my place to tell you.
- Robin (Dick Grayson): But it was your place to put her in danger.
- Batgirl: It wasn't like that. I volunteered!
- Robin (Dick Grayson): You think you did. You don't know him like I do. He manipulates, pulls strings, anything to get what he wants.
- Batman: I thought we had the same goals.
- Robin (Dick Grayson): Things change. I've changed. The game's over, Batman. I quit.
- Batman: Robin, wait.
- [Batman grabs Robin's shoulder. Robin then turns around and hits Batman in the face]
- Batman: I've got a lead on a heist tonight at GothSpace. Meet me there.
- Dick Grayson: This isn't a great time.
- Batman: I'm not making the schedule.
- [Nightwing and Robin are waiting for Connor in his office]
- Connor: You almost gave me a heart attack. I thought you were the Batman.
- Nightwing: No.
- Connor: I ran up against him once. It was a real eye-opener. Forced me to get my life together. Now I've got this great job. Even Mr. Wayne knows me. Terrific guy. Never too busy to stop and ask how my boy's doing.
- [pause]
- Nightwing: Mr. Wayne is a good man.
- The Joker: [watching Batgirl through a tourist viewfinder] My, she's a feisty little minx. And quite a looker, too.
- Rocco: It's the easiest hundred you'll ever make. All you gotta do is give us the high sign if you see anyone comin'.
- Connor: And what'll you guys be doing?
- The Joker: Ah-ah. If you stick your nose in, it might get cut off. You can keep a secret, right, Connor?
- Connor: Uh... uh-huh.
- The Joker: [putting some dollar bills in his mouth] Good.
- Batman: The Joker may want the 40 million, but he'll throw the switch in a heartbeat if he thinks there's a good sick laugh in it. To get maximum air coverage, he has to set the disruptor at the highest point in Gotham.
- Dick Grayson: I saw Barbara's car parked out front. Where is she?
- Alfred Pennyworth: She and Master Bruce are running an errand.
- Dick Grayson: [seeing the Batmobile is gone] What kind of errand?
- The Joker: [Batgirl takes down two of his goons] What? You should be sidewalk stroganoff.
- Robin (Dick Grayson): I changed the menu.
- [he punches another thug, who drops his machine gun]
- The Joker: [picking it up] Honestly, must I do everything myself?
- Rocco: The stairways are sealed off, and there's gas bombs in the elevator shafts. No way anyone's getting to us up here.
- The Joker: Is that so?
- [wearing a jetpack shaped like wings, Batman tackles one of the thugs]
- The Joker: Bats in our belfry again.
- [Rocco begins firing his machine gun until a batarang knocks it out of his hands]
- The Joker: [seeing Batgirl] Ooh! Something new has been added. A big improvement over the Boy Blunder.
- The Joker: Friends, do you suffer from that queasy, drop-in-cabin-pressure, airsick feeling? Well, you should, because of my handy dandy radar disruptor. It's guaranteed to scramble all radar signals in the greater Gotham area. That's right, friends, thanks to this smashing new invention...
- [his goons use toy planes to pantomime a mid-air crash]
- The Joker: ...no military or commercial planes can safely fly over Gotham.
- [he holds up a sign with a dollar amount; realizing it's upside-down, he turns it right-side up]
- The Joker: So, if you want to avoid unhappy landings, just send $40 million to me, the Joker. That's $40 million. Operators are standing by. And remember, don't send it airmail.
- Robin (Dick Grayson): You blew it, Joker.
- The Joker: Au contraire, Bird Boy. I'm just getting fired up.
- [as he pulls a lever, a missile fires; in the aftermath of the explosion, Batman and Robin are buried under rubble]
- The Joker: Hmm. That was easier than usual.
- [with effort, Robin manages to free himself]
- The Joker: Whoops! Time to fly!
- Barbara Gordon: So, Mr. Grayson, tell me, now that you're out of school, what will you do? Become another one of the idle rich?
- Dick Grayson: Ha! Don't think so. I'm ready to be my own man. No more sponging off Bruce.
- Barbara Gordon: Oh, a vow of poverty?
- Dick Grayson: No. I've got a trust fund from the circus. It's an insurance settlement from when my folks died.
- [taking her hand]
- Dick Grayson: But whatever my future holds, I hope it includes you.
