The "don't taze me, bro!" line is a few years old now but this episode, long before taser guns, reminded me of the device that is now used by law enforcement.
Here, the gun is a called a "medical Protype," a laser or taser-type gun which stuns Batman, and lays low for a little while with a concussion. People-wise, this episode features the story of "Matthew Thorne," the brother Of "Rupert Thorne" (John Vernon), chief bad guy of Gotham. Matthew is a good-guy and labeled "The crime doctor." In short, lost his license but still has a good heart and desire to do do the right thing and be "a respectable doctor." How gets to do that despite being under the thumb of his evil brother, is the story.
In the story, we also meet "Leslie Tompkins" (voiced by Diana Muldar). Leslie was old friend with Bruce Wayne's dad, and has been, we learn, Bruce's doctor. After that laser attack, he goes to her for help. She runs the Thomas Wayne Memorial Free Clinic but is "Leslie" is annoying, grouchy old bag or sorts and should be more likable than she's portrayed here. Whatever, the bad guys go after he and Batman has to come to the rescue.
