A sign at the Gotham City Soccer Stadium advertises a match being played between teams called Hawks and Doves. This was a subtle (and for the series) rare topical reference. At the time of the series, the names were especially common metaphors for those who supported (Hawks) or opposed (Doves) warfare or military activity.
Tut refers to Bruce Wayne as a millionaire playboy and man about town. This was taken from the opening narration to The Shadow radio series, which used the same description for The Shadow's alter ego Lamont Cranston. The Shadow has long been cited as an inspiration in the creation of the Batman character.
Was originally intended to be immediately followed up with the episode I'll Be A Mummy's Uncle. However owing to the season three format of largely one part episodes the sequence was split into stand alone episodes. While each episode aired separately at opposite ends of the season three schedule, Mummy's Uncle included a passing reference to Unkindest Cut's plot line.
The title is based upon a quote from William Shakespeare's play "Julius Caesar": This was the most unkindest cut of all.
Tut's moll is named Shirley, who speaks with a decidedly NYC borough accent.
