Did You Know?

Burt Ward suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns in this episode as the special effects crew took little precaution in ensuring the safety of others. The first evidence of this injury is revealed during the first scene in which cynical reporter Nellie Majors makes an appearance at a press conference in the Commissioner's office. At the beginning of this scene - as you'll notice in retrospect - Adam West is positioned so that he's standing in front of Burt Ward, obscuring the view of Ward's right arm. At one point, West steps forward to receive Mr. Freeze's delivery of "green ice"; as he does so, Ward's right arm is in plain view, and it can be clearly seen that a heavy gauze pressure bandage is wrapped around the length of his forearm, from wrist to elbow. Throughout the rest of this two-parter, both West and Ward are clearly maneuvering to hide this bandage, but it is accidentally revealed in several other scenes, including the ending shot of the Dynamic Duo in the City Hall elevator. It seems odd that Commissioner Gordon and Chief O'Hara, both of whom have spoken in person with Batman and Robin countless times, don't pick up on the fact that the imposters' voices are nothing like the Dynamic Duo's. See more »

Batman: Yes, Alfred?
Alfred: Knowing first things come first, sir, I waited until the last possible moment before interrupting your imporant computations, but, eh, the guests will be arriving shortly.
Batman: Guests?
Alfred: Yes sir, the poolside reception this evening. For the Bruce Wayne Foundation.
Robin: Holy tuxedo. If we're late, Aunt Harriet will kill us!

Knockout Two-Parter
11 March 2018 | by See all my reviews

Mr Freeze (Otto Preminger) appears.

As explained in the IMDb trivia for this episode, Burt Ward (Robin) spends sections of this episode with his arm in bandage. He and Adam West (Batman) make attempts to hide the bandage from viewers watching. For years I watched and re-watched this episode with out actually picking up that any of this was going on. But when IMDb let the cat out of the bag a few years back, now when I watch the early scenes the only thing I am looking at are the obvious attempts to hide Burt's bandage! Then again, I do work in the film/TV industry, so maybe this sort of behind-the-scenes stuff just grabs me more than it does with others?

But away from this, Green Ice is a knockout two-parter and that scene at the hijacked dinner party is without question one of season two's greatest moments!
