Yes, smooth, as many other stories from this series, but no uninteresting. OK, you have the host guest Barbara Stanwyck, but the story is rather not so usual and the acting above average, as good as in a long film. It takes place in a western town, with stagecoach and saloons, gunman and sheriff, but that doesn't make it a western either. Looks like some old Republic Pictures movies, hesitating between western and musical, drama or thriller. The character study between the young boy and his new stepfather and also Stanwyck, his mother is moving. You nearly forget and also forgive the predictable ending. Directed by the great Jacques Tourneur.
