This arc is great but why didn't they do this earlier in the season?
26 September 2014 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

This multi-episode arc begins to unfold excitingly. But my question is: What took you so long? Most of season 5 has been disappointing, with silly or filler episodes that probably led to the series being canceled.

There wasn't going to be a season 5, which is what led to Ivanova (Claudia Christian) leaving the show and not returning for this season. So if you're rolling the dice on a series that is probably headed for future syndication rather than future production, spin-offs and a fruitful franchise (See Star Trek, see Stargate), why not go all in, and throw everything you have at fans and viewers?

This is the kind of sci-fi action thrill that always draws viewers and keeps them tuning in week after week. Sci-fi writers and producers need to understand something: Most sci-fi action fans are men. As such, most viewers don't want to see an evening soap opera in space and for much of season 5, that's what B5 had become.

Now however, it appears that the folks in charge finally got it, and finally get into some action, intrigue and excitement. My only regret is that this arc of episodes could have come much earlier in the season, and had the writers been able to develop a richer fabric for this whole storyline, the season could have ended with a cliffhanger rather than a wrap party, and production plans made for season 6.
