Throughout most of the episodes of season five, the series was a major disappointment--mostly because such major confrontations had already been resolved (the Shadows as well as the Earth civil war). However, despite mostly mediocre and sub-par episodes, the show picked up pace in the shows leading to the ultimate confrontation with Centauri Prime.
Lennier is asked by Delenn to relocate to a Ranger ship patrolling along the Centauri border. She has lots of reason to suspect the Centauri are behind the recent attacks on Alliance shipping but she wants Lennier to keep his eyes open and find proof.
This episode is the first of two set aboard Ranger ship "Maria". As a new recruit, the commander puts four young cadets (including Lennier) through a series of exercises meant to challenge them and determine their fitness for the Rangers. Lennier is paired with a rookie who at first seems confident, but soon shows that he needs all the help Lennier can give him.
While the next episode is perhaps a tad more exciting and is certainly more important to the ongoing theme of season five, this episode is still pretty good and worth a look.
